On 25 August 2013, NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope marked its tenth year in orbit.
  On 6 August 2013, NASA's Curiosity rover made its perilous descent to the Martian surface before landing safely in Gale Crater. Now, a year on, we take a look at 10 of the best images from the mission so far.   
  The shortlisted images to this year’s Astronomy Photographer of the Year competition have been revealed, with the judges selecting just over 100 images from almost 2000 entries. The winners of 2013’s competition will be announced at an award ceremony on 18 September 2013. Enjoy a selection of the shorlisted images in the gallery above.
